Rediscovery of Euphydryas maturna (Lepidoptera Nymphalidae Nymphalinae) in the département of the Loiret (45) (France), almost one and a half centuries after it was last recorded there. This note details two observations of the Scarce Fritillary, one in late May and the other in early June 2011, in the eastern part of the département of the Loiret. This population and another in the département of the Cher, in the Centre region, of a nationally endangered species, indeed critically endangered at the regional level, is at the western limit of its distribution in Europe.
