Agonopterix rigidella (Chrétien, 1907) bona sp. is shown to be separate from A. fruticosella (Walsingham, 1903) based on differences in DnA barcode and biology. Differences in external appearance and genitalia exist, but are somewhat masked by variation. Depressaria rebeli Hering, 1936 becomes a synonym of A. rigidella.
