The Eri silkmoth Samia Cynthia has been observed in the gardens of the city centre of Le Havre (Seine-Maritime, France) during several years (1954/1975). Details about the presence of the species in Normandy and especially in Le Havre are given in this paper. Hypothesis are given to explain the disappearance of the alien Heterocera from the city centre
