Résumé :

- This study had two objectives: Detailed knowledge of the preimaginal stages of Coenonympha elbana from Monte Argentario (Tuscany, Italy) through breeding compared to the species from Mti del Gennargentu (Sardinia) as well as an answer to the question whether the taxon elbana is to be classified as its own species or as a subspecies of corinna due to preimaginal characteristics. In this connection a geological analysis of the now disjunct distribution area of the Coenonympha-corinna complex is necessary. The areas in question include the islands of Sardinia, Corsica, Capraia, Elba, Giglio, Giannutri as well as some hilly areas on the Tuscan coast between Castagneto Carducci (Capo di Monte, Monte Calvi) and Orbetello (Monte Argentario)
